Evolving began in the fall of 2020 and slowly took shape over the winter months. Built through countless hours and layers of paint, this large canvas became the first piece that felt fully like my own true expression.
Inspired by the Amazon River, the work interprets the many layers and complexities that make up South America’s biodiverse landscape. The river holds the most diverse population of freshwater fish in the world, and its surrounding ecosystem supports nearly 10% of all known species.
At its heart, Evolving is a reflection of our interconnectedness. Just as the river’s life depends on a delicate balance, our relationships are essential to survival, growth, and the ways we continue to evolve together.
The layered composition mirrors the way the micro and macro worlds overlap, reminding us that the same truths can be found at every scale. Whether seen as a vast ecosystem or an intimate connection, Evolving invites viewers to consider the threads that link all forms of life, and the shared lessons carried through every perpective.
